Hey everyone,
It's been awhile. About 5 months, awhile. I haven't forgotten about this blog. I'm frequently on blogger but I don't really have a whole lot to talk about since life in the Canadian Maritimes is normally pretty slow.
Let's see. I'm still alive! LOL So that is a good thing. Con season is over! :C It's really sad how time goes by so fast these days. Adults don't kid around when they say time goes faster when you age. It's all true. With the conventon season being over. I guess I have a lot to report on.
Harbour Con-Fusion 2012. It was held at the Holiday Inn Express in Saint John, New Brunswick. It was a first time convention. It was a good convention. I did my first artist alley, with Adam and Jess. Adam and I didn't break even at the con, which blowed but there was a lot of behind the scenes drama with the convention staff that definitely interfered with who came and who didn't. So the sales didn't even come close to breaking even which hurt.
Hal-con 2012. It was held at the World Trade Convention Center in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Being it's third year, it was a big show. Adam and I did the artist alley again, along with Jess sharing the table. It was a great turn out for being our first "big" convention at the AA. We made over $115 in profit. It was a lot more then either of us expected to make~ I entered the costume contest for the first time with my first completely self-made cosplay of Minako Aino from Sailor Moon.
I made the costume at my sewing classes that I took over the summer/fall months. My next project is Anata no Oto Ranka Lee. Which I will be making in my next sewing class that starts back up in January of 2013. I'm excited to make a new costume!! :D It's so much fun, even if it was frustrating. But I used possibly one of the worst fabrics to start off on! Minako's costume was made out of lyrca, which is essentially stretchy swim suit material. :P The apron wasn't as hard since it was a stretchy material. But as my teacher said, now that I started off on a harder fabric, I'll find most other fabrics easy to work with. Aha~
My next project, is actually making pot holders for my mom for Christmas since she wants new ones because hers are old and stained and gross. But from the tutorials online, they look super easy to make. C: And I already have the fabric since a pair of Adam's pajama pants ripped, so I'm recycling! ;D I just need to get the heat resistant quilt batting to put in the middle and the I can start sewing away.
I don't want to bore you guys with a butt-load of talking. So I'll hopefully do another post in the near future. Since I till have a lot to catch you guys up on~
